I initially chose The Star by Ann Taylor because it was very simple and brang back many good memories. The poem was very easy to understand and intrepret. The main reason I chose this poem was because it included a very well known poem, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I used to sing this song to my brother and cousins every night on top of our roof in India. It was the first song they all learned in English. I remember learning this song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, on the first day of school. It was very memorable for reasons I shall not say. I don't have a very sentimental, deep connection with Ann Taylor's poem. I just chose to recite it because it was simple and was a pretty good length to memorize.
I think I worked hard for trhe past few days memorizing the poem with good voice and emphasis. i recite it every night so I know I won't forget it. I think I have a pretty good chance at making it in the top ten of the classroom competition. I just have to talk more slowly with more voce infliction and sound like it means everything to me. ha, not really. I might even win the class competition with my pure awesomeness. Yes, I'm so modest.

"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost

This poem is basically about a man who has to decide which road to take in the woods. I interpreted this poem, metaphorically, as choices we have to make everyday in our life. The speaker of this poem takes"the road less traveled by" because he wanted to make a choice that was different from what others might have taken. This choice shows the speaker's individualism. Soon after he traveled the road, he realizes that it was not that different from the other. Robert Frost claimed he did not write this poem to be about him, but about a friend of his who took a different path in life which he might've regreted. The main theme of the poem was to show how even the smallest choices we make in life have a big impact on who we are as a person.
I chose this poem because it related to how many different choices I have made in my life that were important. Where I live and study today was a big decision I had to make many times that impacted me. Similiar to the poem, my decision was "a road less traveled by. We always have to think about what might've been if I had just took the road commonly traveled by. I think that is why the poem' s title is "The Road Not Taken", and not "The Road Taken".

The Movie

There were many differences and similarities between the movie, To Kill a Mockingbird, and the novel. One main scene that stood out to me was the trial of Tom Robinson because of how similair it was to what I had in mind. The trial was absolutely amazing. All the actors acted very much like how I thought they would and more. They were very realistic and responsive to the trial. The atmosphere and setting of the court and people was very real and emotional. It was very serious and realistic as I had thought.
The only difference between the movie and the book, in my mind, was how the characters looked. I portrayed Bob and Mayella Ewell to be more dirty and repulsive as described in the book. I also expected Mayella Ewell as better looking and not so loud and stong willed. Althought the actors did not look exactly as I had thought them to be, they were very good at acting the scene of the trial.
